Description

The project implies the development of an in-orbit docking device intended for spacecraft docking with upper stage. The use of the device is implied by concept "Double Launch" for spacecraft injection into geostationary orbit. The concept "Double Launch" assumes two parallel launches of the launch vehicles one of which injects into reference orbit the upper stage, and another – the spacecraft. After their docking in the reference orbit, the upper stage puts the spacecraft into geostationary orbit.

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

The task of ensuring easy coaxial docking of objects that may be misaligned and non-parallel was first solved by creating two original mechanisms that provided four degrees of freedom for a pin when mating with a hole .On of them was realized in manipulator HK331 for remote control and is successfully used at Zaporozh'e NPS and other Ukrainian nuclear power stations.

Areas of Application

The developed device may be used in the cases when docking of various orbital objects is required. In particular, the device may be used when injecting the Ukrainian national communication satellite into geostationary orbit by two Cy-clone-4 launch vehicles.
