Description

Solution of a number of issues like lithologic section partitioning rock porosity estimation, collectors saturation assessment, core recovery interval determination, abnormally high pore pressure intervals prediction, pore pressure gradient and hydro-rupture calculation, physical-mechanical rocks properties assessment, boring heads choice, rational drilling regime provision, assessment of boring head lifetime while drilling, well’s construction and drilling agent parameters determination is possible when there is available an accurate geology-technological data acquisition. It is very important when it deals with complex conditions during exploration works, deep drilling in hard-to-reach areas as well as marine sites. The worked out algorithm enables to make an operative assessment of geological, technological and other section characteristics.

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

Program complex “System of geology-technological drilling prediction” allows estimating geological parameters (lithology, porosity, permeability, solidity etc.). Calculations are based on methods of d-exponents; equilibrium d-exponents (d0); sigma-logging; pore pressure gradient by d-exponent; pore pressure gradient by sigma-logging; porosity by sigma-logging taking into account rocks clayiness; poisson's ratio; hydro-rupture gradient, required drilling agent density; intensity of mechanical speed decrease in time. Program can be used for different complexes of deposits (terrigene, carbonate and mixed types).

Areas of Application

This product can be used during:

  • Assessment of physical-mechanical rock properties and solution of technological issues when drilling production and exploratory wells;
  • Solution of geological tasks (assessment of lithology, filter-capacitive properties, mechanical properties, pore pressures and hydro-rupture pressures);
  • Solution of technological tasks (boring head lifetime assessment, well construction determination, contingency prediction, drilling agent density determination).


Results of interpretation are given in the program complex «System of
geology-technological drilling prediction» following the example
of the South Caspian Depression field.

Stage of Development

Program complex was tested on the base of well drilling data in Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan.
