Forecast Technology of the Productivity of Rock Bed Saturated by Oil and Gas

Description

The proposed technology is based on the methodology of integrated investigations what suppose to be used in developing and introducing some new methods to define and predict the parameters of productive level of reservoir oiland gas-saturated rocks in nature at great depths. So that seismic exploration and prospecting, development and estimation of deeper oil and gas deposits would be of more effectiveness.

This technology needs to setting up a database of physicalmechanical, petrophysical and reservoir properties of geological environment. All these issues will be directly applied to the seismic exploration and prospecting of treasures of the earth (especially hydrocarbon accumulations), to the planning of deposits development, oil and gas production, to the geological modeling and estimation of hydrocarbon accumulations.

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

The advantages of proposed technology in comparison with the other present-day technologies are as follows, namely this technology:

  1. Allows to compose the three-dimensional geological modeling of high accuracy instead of a mere putting together of some plane sections, as it is usually done;
  2. Enables one to set up the database of physical-mechanical, petrophysical and filter-capacity (reservoir) properties for rocks and layers before borehole drillings;
  3. Can be readily applied to develop even more powerful software to process and interpret the results obtained with multi-component technologies, both field seismic and borehole data;
  4. Can assist in solving the problems of seismic anisotropy with more efficiency and reliability, in researching its nature and the stress sources of the Earth's at various depths.

Areas of Application

Technology can be readily used in locating boreholes, in defining the operating procedures and parameters of drilling, investments, etc. The method can be helpful for monitoring the operational process and engineering design of bore-hole drilling, pipe-line systems, terminals and underground gas storages, since involving geophysical study, particularly the study of physical-mechanical, petrophysical and reservoir properties.

Stage of Development

This technology has been tested in real investigations and by the 3D geological modeling of the area of hydrocarbon containing deposits in the Azerbaijan.
