Scintillation Dosimeter With NaI (Tl) Base

Description

Scintillation dosimeter has been developed on the base of NaI (Tl) operates at pulsed mode and the signals are received by photoamplifier (FEG-85) and the amplified signals are transmitted into the detection unit. The detection unit differing according to its specific principle of operation records the parameters of the received signal (according to the source) on the screen due to the given instruction. The advantage of the applied bloc is that its measuring period is instant (0.1sec); it is capable to control radiation background and retains its property of detection from the small angle of incidence.

  • Measurement time ––––––––––––––– 0.1 sec.

The dosimeter has been prepared for the following purposes:

  • To measure equivalent dose and dose rate of gamma rays;
  • To measure exposure rate of gamma rays;
  • To seek radioactive materials and the sources of ionizing sources.

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

The main advantage is that the scintillation material has a higher recording efficiency, sufficient time and energetic differentiation abilities.

This scintillation dosimeter differs from its analogues in its high measurement accuracy, memory system and ability of transmitting the obtained measures to a computer system.

  • Radioecological control of environment;
  • Radioecological service in sanitary-and-epidemio logic centers;
  • Detection of radioactive materials and equipments at customs service;
  • During emergency situations and military dangerous cases.

Stage of Development

It has been developed and tested in the Lab of “Radiation physics of semiconductors” of the Institute of Radiation Problems ANAS. Pilot prototype is available.
