Hydrogen and Helium Gas-Sensitive Element

Description

A gas-sensitive element contains electrodes arranged on a ceramic substrate and is coated by a thin (0.1-0.2mkm) gas-sensitive layer. In order to increase detection sensitivity of hydrogen the electrodes were made of vanadium and nickel but the gas-sensitive layer- of high-temperature superconducting ceramics which is optimally sensitive to hydrogen and the actuation time is 2 sec.

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

The essence of the invention is that a ceramic oxide hightemperature superconducting material is used as an active element.

Areas of Application

The gas-sensitive element can be used in a gas-analysis instrument making for detecting hydrogen and helium.
