Viral infections still occupy a leading position in infectious diseases. Despite significant advances in vaccines field can not completely eradicate of pathogens. Against the background of existing and known viral infections, are rising a new. Some of them are related to emergent infections are reservoirs of pathogens in 75% of cases the animals. Most often this animal are wildlife. Therefore, we draw attention to the importance of research and discovery of new reservoirs of pathogens of animals and humans and how they transfer.

The study of viruses reptiles - a relatively new area of science that has blossomed over the last few decades.

Representatives of all classes of reptiles can be intermediate hosts or reservoirs of different viruses belonging to the families arbovirusiv, tohavirusiv, adenovirus, herpesvirus and flavivirusiv that can infect humans and other mammals and birds. Many studies show, for example, arbovirusy have great pathogenic potential. In the last 20-30 years under the influence of demographic, socio-economic and environmental factors has developed a unique set of conditions that, more than ever, contributed to strengthening the epidemic potential of a number arboviruses (Yellow Fever Virus, West Nile, Dengue, Chikungunya) and their spread in the area where they had never met and which causes the epidemic. Scientifically proven that a variety of family representatives arboviruses can infect any type of reptiles. The influence of a temperature can lead to the development of viremia in these animals. Recent studies show that some arboviruses can persist in the reptiles body in winter. This is a factor that may play a significant role in the epidemiology of infections caused by these viruses.

It is known that reptiles are susceptible to West Nile Virus. West Nile Fever - arbovirus disease endemic for Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania, which is transmitted by mosquitoes of the family Culicidae. The virus affects people, mammals and birds, causing the kinds of phenomena perceived meningoencephalitis. These data indicate a potential risk of infection of people who are in direct contact with faeces and tissues.

Cold-blooded vertebrates can serve as reservoir hosts virus encephalomyelitis of horses: East (Eastern equine encephalomyelitis) and western (Western equine encephalomyelitis) and Japanese encephalitis virus (Japanese encephalitis virus). Mosquitoes family Culicidae (which are distributed on all continents) that feed on warm-blooded animals as well as in cold-blooded animals, is a link in the chain encephalomyelitis virus. New emergent infections are a serious potential threat not only created artificially, but natural populations of reptiles and amphibians. Pathogens can evolve and infect new hosts, have previously been observed.

This can lead to the spread of pathogens dangerous diseases among susceptible animals and people, and have disastrous consequences for the local herpetofauna, if getting infected individuals in local natural populations of animals. It is known that about 12 pathogens of viral diseases of animals and humans have been successfully inoculated experimentally in reptiles.
