Development of new design medical stents and their manufacturing using laser radiation.

Description

It was proposed a unified technological chain of stents manufacturing:

  • Manufacturing of tubular workpiece with given properties
  • Numerical calculations of stent’s design
  • Equipment and technological process of laser stent cutting;
  • Final polishing of stents;
  • Process control schemes;

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

The developed technology and equipment make it possible to manufacture medical implants out of metal workpieces with the outer diameter ranging from 1.2 to 6 mm and overall length up to 150 mm by means of direct laser cutting and (for the first time in the world practice) laser milling. The developed technology also allows to create “pockets” for drug’s deposition oh the stent’ s walls.
