Description

Structured catalysts for neutralization of exhaust gases of internal combustion engines has been developed. Catalysts are designed for purification of exhaust gases of internal combustion engines from toxic carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons /СО, CxHy, NOx/; gas emissions from stationary diesel generator sets. The catalysts are made as blocks of honeycomb structure with a uniform coating of surface with active composition which includes oxides of transition metals (cobalt, cerium), palladium (up to 0.1%), zirconia and alumina. High activity of the catalysts in complex neutralization of CO, CxHy, and NOx is achieved due to certain ratio of the components and the order of their introduction into the catalyst. The catalysts provide 95-99% purification of exhaust gases from carbon monoxide (CO), 85-90% from hydrocarbons (CxHy), and 95-99% from nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

The use of nanocomposites based on transition metal oxides allowed decreasing the noble metal content in the catalysts of three-way catalysis reactions (CO/NOx/CnHm) in 2-3 times compared with known analogues without reducing the main operational characteristics – activity, selectivity, thermal stability, and resistance to catalyst poisons.
