Radar image database

Description

Database itself consists of a set of experimental data arrays (radar images), organized in the form of database, and application programs package, which allows working with this database and called as Database Management System (DBMS).

The DBMS enables to create new and to change already existing database, to conduct the arrays search on a set of particular parameters and to process these arrays; it also provides output of data processing results to the display screen and to the printer.

For database manipulation the dialogue mode and "menu" system are used; they provide transition to the necessary part of an application program. The database is the open system, which can be enlarged by new data arrays. The only limitation can be the physical capacity of the used external disk drive connected to PC.

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

The database allows solving the following problems:

  • to make primary processing of the radar images (to correct fail values, to exclude antenna directional diagram influence and to record the modified array), i.e. to prepare them for further processing;
  • to conduct statistical processing, i.e. to calculate an average value of the whole array, of the selected site, of the line or column; to calculate differential and integral distributions (unnormalized and normalized) of all array or selected site, to make high and low filtering of frequency, to calculate auto correlation and mutual correlation functions of the given array, etc.

The program can be used for data processing in real time. The DBMS allows solving rationally the tasks of data arrays control, operating access to them, arrays selection according to the function of inquiry and their processing.

The package of programs is simple and convenient in application. Usage of this system does not require from the user any knowledge of programming or special experience in data processing.

Areas of Application

The database of radar images can be used in designing and developing the radio-electronic systems used for remote sensing of different types of earth surface.
