Remote humidity meter

Description

Device is intended for remote (non-contact) humidity measurements in wood, bricks, coke, medicinal herbs, flour, sugar and other solid and loose substances. Device operating principal is based on radio method. Humidity detection is performed by the level of power of microwave signal passed through studied stuff. It allows one to determine remotely the integral humidity of total volume of studied stuff instead its surface layer only.

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

Application of the device could raise quality of manufactured products, medicines, food stuff, etc. The main advantage consists in enhanced quality and efficiency of the humidity measurements. The device makes it possible to determine humidity of the moving objects, for example arranged on conveyers. It can be used as humidity meter in the drying automatic control systems, ensuring that the humidity of tested products is within the required limits. The device could be made in two versions: one desk-top and with withdrawn sensors. The device is ecologically clean and safe for users.

Areas of Application

The device can be used in different branches of industry. For example, some devices are successfully used at wood-working departments of furniture plant (“Shors” plant in Kharkov, UA), some ones were implemented for detecting humidity of fish flour (concern “Yugryba” in Sevastopol, UA).

Stage of Development

The device functional diagram is shown in the figure. Experimental investigations were conducted, some devices were developed, produced and tested in laboratory and in field conditions. The product fabrication was implemented according to the customer requirements. Device could be executed using modern component base.
