General Information

International Center for Advancement of Research, Technology and Innovation (ICARTI) was established according to law of Georgia (Reg. N 205266184) as nongovernmental not-for-profit organization. ICARTI is the National Contact Point for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and for the program - People of European Union Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7), as well as the contact organization for Idealist network.

ICARTI cooperates with number of entities in support of Science and Technology development: in EU (Belgium, Estonia, Greece, Finland, etc. with international foundations STCU, GRDF) and in neighbour countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine, Belorus).

Institute’s Focus

The main objectives of ICARTI are to:

  • Facilitate international cooperation of Georgian research and technology organisations and groups of researchers/engineers with their foreign vis-a-vis and assist in integration of third countries in ERA and international S&T networks.
  • Bridge the gaps between research and industry, support innovation and research commercialisation processes.

Activities

Activities of ICARTI include:

  • Assistance in introduction of best European and international practices in S&T policy and management system;
  • Provide effective exchange of information between S&T stakeholders, offer Georgian and foreign SMEs and companies the data on Georgian technologies and know-how and support technology transfer;
  • Dissemination of information about FP7 objectives and activities to local S&T community; organization of info days, brokerage events and training sessions;
  • Offer mediation services for representatives of S&T and industry, organization of workshops and brokerage events on international and national levels, partner search, etc.

Nowadays ICARTI and its experts are involved in implementation of number of diverse type projects with international and national dimension focused on S&T such as: Ideal-ist2011, N231367, part-funded by European Commission; “Extending ICT research co-operation between the European Union, Eastern Europe and the Southern Caucasus” (EXTEND), N231137, funded by EU FP7; “Creation of Integrated Information Space in the Frame of GUAM Countries for the Distance S&T Collaboration and Learning”, N4509, funded by STCU; etc.
