Nickel crucible used as a substitute for assay platinum crucibles

Description

The product is made of vacuum-melting nickel, grade Н–1У, with the use of the pressing method. The finished product must be ground and then polished thoroughly to increase its resistance when in contact with corrosive and active media.

Nickel crucibles have found extensive uses in laboratories at metallurgical and chemical integrated works of Ukraine and proved to be effective substitutes for high-cost platinum crucibles.

Main Advantages

  • low cost as compared to platinum crucibles;
  • material does not require rigorous stock-taking and special storing conditions;
  • possibility to create large stocks of crucibles in laboratories;
  • possibility to supply products to order.

Areas of Application

  • using "wet" chemistry methods, evaluation of high-alloy steel composition according to ASTM (USA) procedures;
  • alloying of samples of ferroniobium, ferrosilicium, ferrochrome, ferromolybdenum, silicochrome, ferroboron with sodium peroxide to determine mass fraction of silicon;
  • alloying of samples of ferrotitanium with potassium hydroxide to determine mass fraction of silicon and phosphorus;
  • alloying of ferrovanadium with potassium hydroxide to determine mass fraction of silicon;
  • alloying of ferroniobium with sodium peroxide to determine mass fraction of phosphorus;
  • alloying of fluorspar with sodium peroxide to determine mass fraction of phosphorus and silicon;
  • other chemical analyses.
