Development of energy-saving technology for production high quality rolled titanium by asymmetric rolling of powders

The asymmetric rolling was provided by using the rolls of different diameter. The research showed that the pressure on rolls in asymmetric rolling necessary to obtain the rolled product with the same density as by traditional rolling decreases by 20 to 50 % depending on rolls diameter ratio. With asymmetric rolling the undesirable phenomena such as rolled product camber and damage are eliminated. The asymmetric rolling with other conditions being equal allows production of end product of higher quality. In sintering the theoretical density level in the samples produced by asymmetric rolling is attained at 1000оС, whereas the material produced by traditional rolling preserves some porosity even after sintering at 1200оС.
