Bimetallic Castings By High Durability


Increase of wear resistance of materials, extension of technical resource of machine parts and equipment working under conditions of intensive abrasive and impact-abrasive wear, reduction of non-repayable metal losses, and reduction of usage of highly-alloyed expensive alloys is one of the most actual problems at present time. The possibilities of the already existing processes of production of parts from monometallic alloys in respect of providing of the desirable operation properties are practically exhausted. Usage of bimetallic castings having the unique complex of properties varied through the products’ volume and surface is promising approach to solve the mentioned problem. Aapplication of the bimetallic castings is an essential reserve in the questions of rational and economic usage of metal, increase of a reliability and service life of products, reduction of losses by crushing and other types of preparing of mineral raw materials, increase of competitive ability of the equipment at world market. We are developing scientific base of technology for production of bimetallic castings which combine high hardness and wear resistance of working surfaces with constructional strength, impact toughness and plasticity of material of base.

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

Combination of different metals in bimetallic castings allows not only to combine useful properties of certain components, but also to obtain entirely new properties which are impossible to get in products of monometallic materials. Application of bimetallic castings in the structure of machines and equipment, functioning under condition of abrasive, percussive-abrasive, corrosive-abrasive deterioration permits the following:

  • to increase the wear resistance of machinery and equipment in 2,5 - 6,0 times;
  • to decrease the application of high-alloyed steels and alloys to 65 - 70 %;
  • to increase terms between repairs of continuously functioning equipment:
  • to decrease application volumes of wear resistance materials in the form of electrodes, tape, wire etc;
  • to increase the output of restoration processes of worn machinery in 6-8 times due to the direct application of liquid metal

The working parts of crushing and milling equipment for crushing of granite, basalt, clinker, iron quartzite, glass, limestone, perlite, gypseous stone and other highly abrasive mineral raw materials.
