OPERATION

Pulse Radiation Energy Meter VEP-9P-Nb is compatible with PC-AT and newer-type computer and is connected to it via USB port, requiring no separate analyzing block. When a radiation pulse falls on the pyroelectric sensing element, it generates an electric current pulse with magnitude proportional to the energy of the radiation pulse. Built-in matching amplifier, microcontroller, and central processor, together give real-time output of calculated results to PC via USB connection interface for further processing and visualization.

For each pulse, upon completion of the needed calculations, microcontroller transfers to the PC a package containing information on pulse energy value, time span between pulses, pulse sequence number and device status word (information).

The PC-compatible software with this information package, records calibration data and functioning parameters, controls device's working regimes, calculates radiation pulse average power & repetition rate and visualizes measurement state and results (energy, average power, and measured pulses repetition rate).

OPERATIONAL FEATURES KEY CHARACTERISTICS

All-in-One USB Radiation Energy Meter VEP-9P-Nb permits high accuracy on-the-job and real-time measurements by allowing the on-line monitoring and the consequent tuning of the laser-beam "on-the-fly": the beam pulses pass-through the pyrometer's sensitive element without beam cut-off and significant beam obtrusion.

All-in-One USB Radiation Energy Meter VEP-9P-Nb can be used without a special coating for a wide spectrum of wavelengths with losses about 20%-25% of beam's energy, and with losses less than 0.5% for use with a specific wavelength i.e.by employing narrowband AR coating on the sensing element. In this last case, the energy/power of a pulsed or Q-switched laser can be real-time monitored without work interruption since there is no significant quantitative or qualitative change in the laser beam.

In case measurement of higher levels of energy is required, USB Radiation Energy Meter VEP-1 can be used, maintaining all the functions of the VEP-9P-Nb, only obstructing the measured radiation.

The innovative "all-in-one" compact model, incorporates all three already known functions of the new sensor-meters incorporating a USB-interface plus a fourth and novel function feature, that of being able to perform 'on the-job' energy measurements.

The VEP-9P-Nb allows for narrow-band pulsed coherent / non-coherent radiation to pass through ints aperture practically unobtrusively and enables the VEP-9P-Nb sensor / meter to monitor on-the-job the energy / power status of a radiation source and equipment during its on-going operaition, if and whenever requested.
