Probiotics for Medical Treatment of Diseases of Stomach and Duodenum

Description

Preparation “Lactopropionics” comprises local strains of Lactobacillus casei 925 and Propionibacterium avidum 1. The nutrient medium and cultivation conditions securing maximum growth of bacteria on base of lactoserum have been determined. Preparation exerts high activity against Helicobacter pylori causing ulcer of stomach and duodenum. It has been developed the technology of immobilization of cells of Lactobacteria and Propionibacteria on microcrystal cellulose, apple and mandarin pectin promoting to preservation of cells viability in modified state both during long-term storage and at low values of pH of simulated gastric juices.

Innovative Aspect and Main Advantages

Chemical preparations are mainly used for medical treatment of ulcer of stomach and duodenum now. Consequences of use of these preparations are usually disbalance of gastric microflora and development of disbacteriosis. In these regards, use of probiotics on base of Lactobacteria and Propionibacteria possessing high antimicrobial activity represents specific interest.

Areas of Application

Pharmaceutics: production of medical preparations for prophylaxis and treatment of stomach and duodenum ulcer. Medicine: preparation suppresses growth and development of Helicobacter pylori and normalizes microflora of gastrointestinal tract after treatment with antibiotics and other chemical preparations.

Stage of Development

The scientific and technical documentation for preparation “Lactopropionics” has been worked out. There is a temporary pharmacopeia article which contains criteria of quality control. An instruction is developed which describes scheme of treatment and dosage of treatment for different age.
